I’ve already shared Liesl's summer collection and Rae’s, which she crafted using her Lotus Pond fabric line. Today, I’m excited to unveil my own selection. With Kids Clothes Week fast approaching—July 21-27—it got me thinking about the wardrobe I’d create for my daughter, C, if I were designing a fresh set of clothes for her.
This was such a delightful project that C and I worked on together. We sat down and picked out seven styles. Initially, we considered ten or twelve options, but narrowing it down proved challenging. Eventually, we settled on seven. Most of the fabrics for this collection are vibrant florals from Liberty of London, paired with a few solid colors.
The first piece I want to highlight is the **Garden Party Blouse** in a beautiful blue Clarisse Tana Lawn. I’ve been admiring all the stunning versions of this blouse others have made, and I couldn’t resist giving it a try. This blue floral would make a lovely sleeveless top, perfect for those sweltering summer days.
Next up is the **2+2 Pleated Skirt**, crafted in Fairford Chambray. C absolutely adores pleated skirts, and this one in chambray will match beautifully with countless tops.
Moving on to another favorite, the **Ice Cream Blouse** combines Ella and Libby Tana Lawn with a soft blue linen blend yoke. Its relaxed fit makes it ideal for keeping cool during the summer.
For something sportier, we included the **Badminton Skort** in Capel Discharge Chambray. C loves the scalloped hem, and paired with this fabric, it’s sure to look charming.
No summer wardrobe would be complete without a good pair of shorts. The **Class Picnic Shorts** in Esteban Chambray and Wilmslow Berry Tana Lawn trim are both practical and adorable.
For a touch of elegance, the **Pinwheel Slip Dress** in a pink Clarisse Tana Lawn adds a simple yet stylish option. I’d probably opt for bias trim in the same fabric to tie it all together.
Lastly, we created a special piece—a **Birthday Party Dress** in a bold, eye-catching bright purple silk shantung. Since C’s birthday is this month, she insisted on having a fancy dress for the occasion, and this vibrant shade is exactly what she wanted. It’s going to be stunning!
What are your plans for Kids Clothes Week? Would you enjoy organizing your sewing projects this way? Picking out patterns alongside fabric swatches sounds like a fun challenge, doesn’t it?
With these pieces, we’ve created a versatile wardrobe for the summer. What do you think? Do you have any favorite projects lined up for the week? Let me know in the comments below!
