Recently, the Guangzhou Institute of Archeology excavated a large number of blue-and-white porcelain deposits during the period from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China in the original Dasanyuan restaurant block on Daban Road, Changdi. At the beginning of the year, the National Land and Housing Bureau of Yuexiu District contacted the Guangzhou Institute of Archaeology through the department of cultural relics to carry out archeological exploration and excavation work on the original Dasanyuan Restaurant plot to be built. At present, nearly 10,000 pieces of blue-and-white porcelain have been excavated. The large number of these is rare for archaeological sites in the ancient city of Guangzhou in recent years.

The 10,000-piece blue-and-white porcelain witnessed the port trade prosperity. The discovery of blue-and-white porcelain was about 100 square meters. Among them, nearly 10,000 pieces of blue-and-white porcelain had been unearthed, mostly ordinary daily utensils of the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, including cups, bowls, dishes, etc. The majority of porcelain production originates from the “Shantou Kiln” in the eastern part of Guangdong, and some porcelains are produced in Jingdezhen. There are also many imported products from Japan. According to experts, the characteristics of these porcelain porcelains for export are not strong. It is estimated that most of them are imported porcelain, and they may be shipped to other places via Guangzhou.

Yi Xibing, a researcher at the Guangzhou Institute of Archaeology, said that most of the porcelains are still intact, in a stack, and there are no traces of use, indicating that the batch of porcelain is not a household waste and is likely to be a defective product during transit. Abandoned. This discovery also shows that near the site of the Big Three yuan restaurant, it is likely that there will be a commercial dock.

Among the porcelains that have been excavated, a black dish with “spirit overflowing” has a fine texture, a bright color, a high degree of robotization, and a lighter weight, reflecting the developed porcelain production process in Japan at the time. Another "Nippondo" letter with the words "Fu" and "Shou" implies auspiciousness, which is quite interesting in Chinese folk traditions. As for the "national products" produced in Shantou, most of them are folk kilns, and the glaze color is relatively light, which is a feature of porcelain that was popular at that time. The porcelain of Jingdezhen was painted with the exquisite pattern of "Dragon Tiger and Doll". One of the pieces of the red glazed cup was also written with the words "Jingzhen Lvxing", indicating that this object was written by a local master.

Yixi Bing told reporters that it was the first time in Guangzhou’s archaeological history that such a large-scale accumulation of blue and white porcelain had taken place. At present, the blue-and-white porcelain that has been cleaned up is only the surface part of the deposit that was discovered this time. It is estimated that there will be a total of about 30,000 pieces, and even the older products can be excavated.
