Venice Chinese Overseas Chinese Association Visits Guangdong to Inspect the Jeans Market

Recently, Lin Lin, the Deputy Director of the Zhejiang Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, met with Ms. Shaliwa, Vice President of the Overseas Chinese Association of Venice, in Guangzhou. The meeting took place as part of an ongoing effort to strengthen ties between Chinese communities abroad and local authorities in China. Lin Lin warmly welcomed Ms. Shaliwa and her delegation, expressing appreciation for their support during his recent visit to Venice in August. He specifically thanked Ms. Xia and the Venetian Chinese Overseas Chinese Association for their hospitality and assistance during the trip, which included discussions on cultural exchanges and community development. During the meeting, Ms. Shaliwa outlined the main objectives of her current visit to Guangdong. She explained that the primary focus was to assess the state of the cowboy clothing market in the region, with a special emphasis on potential opportunities for collaboration between Chinese manufacturers and Italian businesses. She also mentioned plans to accelerate preparations for investments in garment manufacturing equipment, particularly in the field of denim dyeing machinery. Lin Lin assured Ms. Shaliwa that the Provincial Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs would provide all necessary support to facilitate these efforts. He emphasized the importance of fostering stronger economic ties between overseas Chinese communities and domestic industries, highlighting the mutual benefits of such partnerships. In the afternoon, Ms. Shaliwa and her team, along with representatives from the Shunde District's Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and the Ministry of Civil Affairs and Foreign Affairs, visited Jun'an Town in Shunde. There, they toured several cowboy clothing manufacturing companies and met with local business associations to gain firsthand insights into the industry’s operations and challenges. The visit underscored the growing interest among overseas Chinese communities in exploring new business opportunities within China, particularly in sectors like fashion and textiles. It also highlighted the role of local government offices in supporting these initiatives and promoting cross-border economic cooperation.
