Recently, Lin Lin, the deputy director of the Zhejiang Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, welcomed Ms. Shaliwa, vice president of the Venice Overseas Chinese Association, during her visit to Guangzhou. The meeting took place as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between overseas Chinese communities and local authorities in China.
Lin Lin expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality and support provided by Ms. Shaliwa and the Venetian Chinese community during his recent trip to Venice in August. He emphasized the importance of such collaborations in fostering cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between overseas Chinese groups and their homeland.
During the meeting, Ms. Shaliwa shared the key objectives of her current visit to Guangdong. She highlighted that the primary focus was on assessing the cowboy clothing market in the region, with a particular interest in exploring potential business opportunities for Italian investors looking to expand into the garment manufacturing sector. Specifically, she mentioned plans to initiate early preparations for investments in advanced denim dyeing machinery and related equipment.
Lin Lin assured her that the Provincial Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs is committed to supporting such initiatives and will provide necessary assistance to facilitate smoother cooperation between Chinese and Italian businesses. He also encouraged further dialogue and collaboration to explore new avenues for economic development.
In the afternoon, Ms. Shaliwa and her delegation were accompanied by officials from the Shunde District Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and representatives from the Ministry of Civil Affairs and Foreign Affairs. They visited Jun'an Town in Shunde District, where they toured several cowboy clothing manufacturers and met with members of the local chamber of commerce. The visit aimed to gain firsthand insights into the production processes, industry standards, and market dynamics of the region’s clothing sector.
This exchange not only deepened mutual understanding but also laid the groundwork for future partnerships between overseas Chinese communities and local enterprises in Guangdong. The visit underscored the growing significance of cross-border collaboration in the global fashion industry.
