Hello, everyone! I hope this message finds you well. Right now, I’m typing to you from sunny Barcelona, where we've decided to spend the entire month of August. It's been such a treat to explore this vibrant city again, especially since we last visited when S was just a baby. It's fascinating to see how much has changed in her perspective now that she’s older. Last time, the beach was a bit of a challenge—she was determined to eat the sand at nine months old—but now she absolutely adores it.
If you'd like to join us on this adventure, we're sharing plenty of pictures on Instagram. You can check them out on both my personal account and the Oliver + S page. Come along with us if you want to see what we're up to!
In between our escapades, I'm wrapping up the final touches on all the fall sewing patterns we'll be releasing soon. This month, we’re also shooting two photo sessions, so things are still quite hectic. However, while I’m juggling these tasks, I thought I’d bring up something I’ve been thinking about lately—bras.
I know, I know, bras aren’t exactly the most exciting topic. For years, I avoided shopping for them altogether. It wasn’t until about two years ago that I finally stepped into a local lingerie store and got professionally fitted. Let me tell you, it was a game-changer! Unlike the typical mall experience, this boutique offered a personalized fitting with an expert who helped me find bras that perfectly matched my shape, lifestyle, and preferences. I learned so much—how a bra should fit, how to adjust the straps, and even how to put it on correctly. Since then, I’ve discovered a whole new world of bras that actually make me feel good.
Now, I wear a different style and size than before, and I couldn’t be happier with how comfortable they are and how they enhance my outfits. I never thought I’d say this, but I almost enjoy shopping for bras now. I’ve even splurged on a couple of truly stunning pieces just because they make me feel extra feminine and confident.
There’s a reason why everyone keeps saying it’s important to find the right bra—it makes such a difference! Not only does it affect how your clothes hang, but it can also boost your overall appearance. A well-fitted bra can lift and support your breasts, making you look slimmer and more put-together. When you’re sewing your own clothes, a proper bra ensures that your bust sits just right, improving the fit of your blouses and dresses. Trust me, it makes all the difference.
So, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
1. Different bras and brands fit differently, so it’s crucial to find ones that work for your body, not just the trendiest options.
2. You might discover that you need a different size depending on the brand, so always try before you buy.
3. Invest in high-quality bras—they’re made from better materials and will last longer.
4. Rotate your bras instead of wearing the same one every day. This helps preserve the elasticity and extends their lifespan.
5. Hand-wash your bras using a gentle soap like Soak or baby shampoo for the best care.
If you don’t have access to a great boutique nearby, you might want to check out True & Co, an online company that offers personalized bra recommendations based on your measurements and preferences. Their data-driven approach has helped thousands of women find their ideal bras, and their prices are surprisingly reasonable.
While American women tend to prioritize practicality when choosing bras, I’ve started experimenting with more stylish options. I still rely on my trusty T-shirt bras for everyday wear, but I’ve begun adding a few more elegant pieces to my collection. It’s all about balance, right?
Have you found your perfect bra yet? Do you notice a noticeable improvement in how your clothes fit when you wear one that fits well? Let me know—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
